We’ll begin with a drive through the Rif Mountains and past Tetouan. To fully appreciate the breathtaking scenery, we’ll stop for a rest at the foot of the Rif mountains in Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen’s medina has a strong Spanish architectural influence, as it was once part of “Spanish Morocco,” and its square is surrounded by colorful artisanal shops. It also has many rooftop restaurants and cafes, which are also available in the Riads, where you can spend the rest of the evening with a nice breeze and a beautiful view.
After a hearty breakfast, we continue on our way to Volubilis, passing through Ouazan and other Rif villages. We’ll visit Volubilis to see the Roman ruins and learn about Moroccan history. Continuing on to Meknes, we’ll have lunch and explore the historical walls of the medina, as well as Bab el Mansour and the Moulay Ismail shrine. We’ll leave later in the afternoon for Fes, where we’ll spend the night.
We’ll start the day by exploring Morocco’s oldest city, snaking through its alleys and narrow streets. We’ll start our tour at the Royal Palace gate, then move on to the Jewish headquarter, where the first Mellah was built in Morocco in the 16th century. We will make certain that you visit all cultural and historical sites, including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the region’s oldest. We’ll also go to the Tanneries, the Attarine museum, and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum. After lunch, you’ll visit a variety of cooperatives before taking in a breathtaking panoramic view of Fes’ Medina.
The day begins with a drive towards the Atlas Mountains, with a stop in Ifrane to explore the famous cedar forest, which is home to the Berber apes. We’ll then continue to Midelt via the Tiz Ntalghamt Mountain Pass and the Ziz Gorge (where we’ll stop for photos and some local mint tea). We then continue on to Merzouga, where we will spend the night at our campsite.
We’ll wake up and travel to a nearby hotel, where you can freshen up and enjoy a complimentary breakfast before continuing on to Ouarzazate. We’ll stop in Berber villages along the way to see The Todra and Dades Gorge. We’ll stop at the Dades Gorge and spend the night at a local hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll continue our journey to Ouarzazate along the route of a thousand Kasbahs (fortresses), stopping at Kalaat Mgouna, the heart of the Valley of Roses and home to the annual Rose Festival. Then we’ll make our way through Ait Ben Haddou ( a UNESCO World Heritage site).
We’ll take a guided tour of Marrakesh today. You will visit the city’s main attractions and monuments, such as the famous Jamma el Fna square, the Koutoubia mosque, the souks, palaces, and museums. We’ll also visit Fes Jdid “New Fes” neighborhoods like Gueliz, The Menara Gardens, and Majorelle.
