6 days tour from Marrakech: day-by-day itinerary
Day 1Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Pick-up at around 8:00 from your riad and crossing of the High Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Visit the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah (UNESCO) and continue to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert.
Day 2Ouarzazate – Agdz – Draa Valley – Zagora – Tafraoute Sidi Ali
Visit Taourirt Kasbah, cross the Anti-Atlas and drive down the Draa Valley palm grove to Zagora. In the afternoon we take the 4×4 track via Oum Jrane to Tafraoute Sidi Ali, right on the Paris-Dakar route.
Day 3Tafraoute – Ramlia oasis – Erg Ouzina – Khamlia – Merzouga
We follow the Paris-Dakar track past lonely villages, riverbeds and oases to the Ouzina dunes, then the Ramlia oasis and the Gnawa village of Khamlia, arriving in Merzouga. At sunset, a camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Day 4Merzouga – Erg Chebbi 4×4 loop – nomad visit
Sunrise over the dunes and camel ride back. We drive around Erg Chebbi by 4×4, visit a nomad family, the Merzouga lake and old mines, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon in the desert.
Day 5Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
We pass through Rissani, cradle of the Alaouite dynasty, and continue via Tinejdad to the Todra Gorge. Walk through the canyon, then on to the Dades Valley.
Day 6Dades – Valley of Roses – Skoura – Marrakech
Along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs we cross the Valley of Roses and the Skoura palm grove, then the High Atlas, arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
